Portraits and other collections

Photography means writing with light.

The chlorotype process is an alternative biological photographic process.

I expose leaves to direct sunlight using a positive for days, even weeks. This enormous amount of light causes the leaf to change its pigments from green to yellow.

These photographic works are created by forcing this pigment change, all without chemicals or inks, and then to fix the image it is necessary that they are treated.

The resulting images are stunningly delicate and beautiful, ranging from haunting silhouettes to sharp definition. Despite the simplicity of the finished product, the process itself can be difficult, with lots of trial and error.

With this project, I create a series of portraits and other collections, playing with different leaf shapes and the composition of the images.
